Inntrepid's
Board Games

This page is devoted to Board Games and Family Games that we play. I must say that the Germans put out some very good Board Games. Kathy (lovely wife) will even play these games with us. We started buying, Euro (designer) games, in 2004 after playing a couple of different games at GenCon.

Check out Inntrepid's Member Profile on BoardGameGeek.

This profile has my game collection (I am still adding to it), my ratings for games that I have played, a calander that shows what games we have been playing, links to my contributions on BGG and lots of other goodies. I am always updating information on the BGG (much better there then I am here).

Even if you do not check out my profile check out BoardGameGeek if you are at all interested in games.

Check out Pictures of our Game Collection.

June 11, 2006: I saw a Forum on BoardGameGeek where members where posting pictures of their game collection. I am planning on posting ours on BGG but I wanted to post them here first.

Battlegrounds Fantasy Warfare
Army Creator version 1.0

June 11, 2006: Andrew and I started playing a new game that came out last year, Battlegrounds Fantasy Warfare. It is basically a miniatures game that does not use miniatures. It uses cards to represent the miniatures so you do not have to invest the time and money to buy and paint miniatures. Andrew has beat me in all of the games we have played except the last one. For more information you can check out the link above or use this link to go to the companies website Your Move Games.

I wrote the program BFW - Army Creator version 1.0 to help create armies for Battleground Fantasy Warfare. You can save, load and print your army configurations. The program is stand alone and can be run from any location and does not need to be installed. Normal army design can be used or you can choose to use Freeform Army Design.

You can choose from the following armies in this version: Men of Hawkshold, Orcs, Undead and Elves of Ravenwood.

The zip file contains the program BFW_Army_Creator-10.exe which created with MS Visual Basic 6.0 and instructions as a .doc file and as .jpg files.

Available for download in the Files section of Battleground Fantasy Warfare on BoardGameGeek.

Formula De
Car Creator for Custom Dashboards

June 11, 2006: added link to BoardGameGeek for download at bottom of this section.

May 5, 2006: I started playing Formula De again with my son after not playing for a couple of years. I remember there being a web site where you could create custom dashboards, but I could not find it no matter how much I searched the web. I decided to make my own program that I could use for creating custom dashboards. The result is "FD Car Creator version 1.1" and it is available as a download in the files section.

FD_Car_Creator is a program I wrote in Visual Basic and you can run the .exe from any location. There is no install file for it but if you want to save a configuration it will prompt you to create "C:Program FilesFD_Car_Creator" to store the custom configurations in. You can choose cancel and choose your own folder to save the custom dashboard configuration in if you do not want to save it in the default.

The custom dashboard contains: - Team Name, Car Color (each car), Driver Name (each car) - Speed ranges for the different Gears with Normal Wing and High Down Force Wing settings. - Custom configurations for 2 cars in a race team (both of these cars have the same configuration) - Custom configuration for Driver and Crew (each of these can be different) - Wing and Tire settings for start of race and each pit stop (we play that you can change the wing settings during a Full pit stop) - Tables for: Wing Effects, Collision, Road Handling, Over Revving, Track Modifiers for Sunny and Rain Conditions. The charts are duplicated for each car so that the page could be cut in half so 2 players could play the team and each have their own dashboard. I realize that some players may not use the exact charts that we do and I am thinking of enhancing the next version, so that a player can enter thier own values. If you have any questions comments or find any bugs please email me. If this makes Formula De more enjoyable for your group, then it did what I intended it to do..

Available for download in the Files section of Formula De on BoardGameGeek.

Gaming Log and Results

A listing of the games we have been playing. This includes a listing of the players and their starting positions and how they finished. If each player has different skills then the character the player is using is also listed.

June 11, 2006: I have not devoted that much time to the Game Log project, I would eventually like to create a SQL databse that I can use for logging and accessing games. Until I get that done please check out Inntrepid's Games Played Log on Board Game Geek. The file is FD_Car_Creator_11.zip.

Inntrepid's Gaming Log (old Game Log project)
I have even included pictures of the final positions in the games or pictures of us playing them. Click the link below to check it out.

Games List

June 11, 2006: For a better listing of my game collection check out Inntrepid's Collection on Board Game Geek. Carcassonne
Descent: Journeys in the Dark
Railroad Tycoon

Carcassonne

'Carrcasone' is the latest game we aquired (August 14, 2005). Dozer purchased it with money from chores and mowing the yard. You can check out the game HERE at BoardGameGeek.

Dozer and I played the game for the first time at Rockheads Comics & Games last night. It was COOL! We played 2 games and Brian (owner of Rockheads) won the first game. We played another game and Dozer won that. We played both games in about 3 1/2 hours.

Dozer bought the game today and SacSquash, Dozer and myself played 2 games. SacSquash won the first game (he spanked us BAD!). Dozer pulled off a victory in the 2nd game.

Oct 23, 2005: Dozer has since aquired all of the expansions, which doubles the number of tiles. Sometimes we play with the expansions (some make it a much more aggressive game) and sometimes we just play the basic game with the extra tiles. It really is a fun game and it takes about the same amount of time to play whether you are playing with 6 players or 2 players.

Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Nov 27, 2005: I bought this about Nov 2nd and we have played 5 times and it is cool. I have been playing the Overlord and have only won the first game that I played with Dozer. I have played 2 games with 4 other players and 2 games with 2 other players. It seems that the Hero's are just tromping all over my monsters so we will have to see what the next game holds for the Hero's.

Oct 23, 2005: 'Descent: Journeys in the Dark' is a game I can not wait to get. The box is loaded with goodies. 60 minatures of monsters and 20 character minatures, 180 cards, tiles for creating the dungeon and lots of other things. It was supposed to be out in October but I just saw something on BoardGameGeek saying that it would not be out until November. I am bumming! One player playes the Overloard and 1 to 3 (or 4) other players play the characters searching the dungeon.

Railroad Tycoon

Nov 27, 2005: I bought this on Nov 16th and we have played 6 games since then. We have played 2 two player games, 3 three player games and a 6 player game on Thanksgiving. The six player game is pretty intense. In our 1st two player game it was pretty uneventful so I came up with a variant that I posted on BoardGameGeek. I also came up with a 3 player variant that I also post on BGG and both variants reduce the map size so that the players have to compete with eachother. Links to the postings are below so you can see any comments that have been made.

Oct 23, 2005:'Railroad Tycoon: The Boardgame' is another game that is supposed to be out in October that I am waiting on. Two to 6 players compete to become the richest and most powerful owner of a railway, during the age of steam. You build tracks in the Eastern half of the United States so you can transfer shipments from one city to another, while also buying stock in yours and other railways.

Nov 28, 2005:I had to put this image here for a post I made on Eagle Games Forum about crossing rivers. You can view my post HERE.
